Villages & Ports
Kalamos Town (Port of Kalamos)
The main harbour, Kalamos Town, is a welcoming port lined with waterfront tavernas,
small cafés and family-run shops. The harbour is sheltered and scenic, with fishing boats, local cats
wandering the quay and a gentle, traditional atmosphere.
Guests often enjoy an evening meal here, sampling fresh seafood and homemade Greek dishes while
watching the sunset behind the mountains. The harbour lights reflect off the water, creating a
beautiful, peaceful setting for the night.
Port Leone
One of the highlights when visiting Kalamos is the abandoned village of Port Leone.
Once thriving, the village was largely deserted after an earthquake in the 1950s. Today, it is a
hauntingly beautiful anchorage with:
A quiet bay with incredibly clear, turquoise water
An abandoned church with a restored bell tower
Old stone buildings scattered along the hillside
A calm, sheltered spot perfect for swimming and paddleboarding
Port Leone is one of the most atmospheric and memorable stops during a catamaran cruise, offering
both history and tranquillity in a pristine natural setting.
Beautiful Bays & Swimming Spots
Kalamos offers numerous secluded coves accessible mainly by boat.
These bays are ideal for swimming, snorkelling, paddleboarding and sunbathing onboard the catamaran.
Alexandros Bay – Calm and sheltered, perfect for relaxing swims.
Port Leone – Known for its deep blue water and peaceful surroundings.
Myrtiotissa Coastline – Rugged, dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear sea.
Nature & Landscape
Kalamos is covered in thick pine forests, giving the island a rich green colour that contrasts beautifully
with the deep blues of the sea. Because it is less developed than nearby islands, Kalamos offers
excellent opportunities for hiking short trails or simply enjoying the untouched natural landscape.
Dolphins are often spotted between Kalamos and the Kastos, adding an extra
touch of excitement during the sail.
